There
is something big happening on our little planet. Those who have taken a
little time to look into
the phenomenon of unidentified flying objects will find the evidence overwhelming.
Here we provide links to some of the most up-to-date and well researched UFO
books and other research materials for the informed, the convinced, and the
open-minded individual with an interest in the subject.
Sceptics too will also find a mountain of thought-provoking material amongst the
publications highlighted here.
Man's awareness of the UFO phenomenon has increased since the late forties though there is evidence
of sightings going much further back into our history found in ancient writings and illustrations.
The
open-minded amongst us recognise that mankind is a young, emerging
civilisation developing precariously on a very small planet on the edge of an
enormous galaxy containing billions of stars and planets. Astronomers
estimate there are 100 billion such galaxies in our universe each harbouring billions
of stars and their orbiting planets.
It must be clear to any intelligent person that the probability of life
developing
on other suitable planets is very high and UFO sightings may well
provide some initial evidence of this.
It is said by some that there are many species of extraterrestrials visiting us and considering the wide range of craft that have been sighted and recorded over may years this is perhaps not entirely without truth. Most UFOlogists believe their presence is benign and stemming from scientific observation or even a sort of maternal instinct that will result in their becoming our friends and saviours when they judge the time to be right.
Some of these UFO sightings are attributed by a few to advanced government black projects such as the supposed TR-3B using anti-gravity propulsion reverse-engineered from alien technology. This in itself would be revealing and mind-boggling.
Some sceptics discount UFO sightings saying that we cannot have been visited
simply because of the huge distances involved and even at the theoretical
light speed limit travelling times are immense and impractical.
However Albert Einstein himself had the humility and foresight to recognise
that his theory of relativity may one day be superseded by new discoveries
in science and physics and some
scientists do in fact question Einstein's theory. Just because the emerging
Earthlings can't yet figure out a way to overcome Einstein's theory of
relativity it doesn't mean that more advanced civilisations didn't do so
many thousands of years ago. The evidence points to our being the subject of thousands of visitations suggesting that
mind-boggling distances may not be insurmountable, and perhaps there are
alternatives to slogging through space from point-to-point anyway.
There is much talk of
governments holding back information about UFO sightings from the general
public for various reasons and organisations exist demanding their
disclosure.
There are risks that governments disclosing their UFO knowledge,
clarification of Roswell and Area 51 and maybe the display of an alien body
could precipitate the collapse of religions around the world. However,
religious beliefs are strong and capable of adaptation to suit new
circumstances.
On the other hand,
would disclosure make us look to the skies in awe united as one on our
little planet instead of glaring at each other suspiciously and
threateningly across borders and oceans?
UFOs, Why Are They Here?
For the purposes of this section we have to assume that all the evidence points to our being visited by inhabitants of other planets and that the UFO sightings are not of craft already of this planet, perhaps from our own future, or that all sightings can be explained away by natural phenomena.
So if they are in fact here, why are they here? Most films from the 50's
onwards (or movies as we seem to have to call them nowadays) prefer the
sensationalist approach and start with the premise that aliens are here to
invade us, perhaps to take over our minds and bodies and devour our natural
resources. Though we do know that we could readily repel such intent by
enlisting the help of Will Smith and his lap top computer to plant a computer
virus into the mother ship. Job done!
Fortunately, such films have also been partially balanced by those such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind in which our visitors were presented as much more benign and benevolent. However there is still a sense of suspicion, fear and perhaps even hostility instilled into people's minds as a result of the way that possible alien visitors have been portrayed in the media.
However, if there was in fact malevolent intent then it is most likely that this would have become evident many years ago given their advanced technology. Fortunately they do not appear to be inclined to "nuke us from orbit" or release upon us whatever their far more refined and subtle equivalent might be. It is possible that advanced civilisations by now, unlike us, have realised the futility and stupidity of conflict and are sufficiently emotionally, psychologically and spiritually balanced to use their advanced technology for constructive and positive purposes.
So let's speculate a little. Is it possible that we are the subject of an experiment on genetics and evolution begun tens of thousands ago, or maybe even longer. We may be a sort of seeding experiment requiring monitoring and gentle adjustments from time to time which will begin to take effect in several generations time. Why else would the "greys" continue to abduct and experiment upon people from time to time and why are cattle still mutilated under very similar circumstances all over the world? Alien abduction may be more widespread than we believe considering that thousands of people go missing every year in the USA alone with many never being seen again.
Perhaps the only rational explanation is that they are here to study us as an emerging intelligent life form. We have to assume they are curious about what lies amongst the stars and if intelligent life is as rare as has been hypothesised then it increases the likelihood that more advanced civilisations should want to take a closer look at us. After all, this is exactly what we would do once we achieve the necessary space travel capability. We may well the subject of intense scientific study by some visitors but considering the apparent diversity of the craft taking a look at us then perhaps some are here out of simple curiosity, or perhaps even tourism. Far fetched? What do we know? Next to nothing.
Are Vast Distances an Obstacle to Alien Visitors?
Many sceptics believe the distances between solar systems within our galaxy, and
most certainly the mind-boggling distances between galaxies, to be so insurmountable
that they render space travel impossible. But it's not actually about the distance is it?
It's the time it takes.
On our little planet we relate everything back to our time references and maybe
more to the point to our human life span. A far more advanced civilisation may
well have resolved the problem of aging, and maybe even death itself. Their life span may
extend into thousands of years as a result of their environment and their
understanding of their own physiology. Their planet may be many times larger
than ours and rotate much more slowly with one of their days perhaps being
equivalent to a hundred of ours. So their perception of time and tolerance to
months or years of inactivity will be entirely different from our own.
Consequently a trip of say 50 of our years may well be a walk in the park to them because
their references and perception of time are entirely different from ours. Add a
bit of hibernation (just like many of our own little animals do for months at a
time) and a little on-board entertainment and they'll be exploring our solar
system in no time, to them, at all.
The above theory doesn't even take into account the possibility
faster-than-light travel, inter-dimensional travel or tricks with the space-time
continuum that we are many years away from comprehending.
